Florence Stout

Florence Matson Stout, age 93 passed away on Wednesday 22 May 2019. She was surrounded by her children and loved ones. Florence was born July 15, 1925 in Provo, Utah to David and Esther Taylor Matson. She was raised and educated in Tooele, Utah.

Florence married Ralph O’Lee Stout June 2, 1944. This marriage was sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on October 9, 1947. They moved to Los Angeles, California in 1951 and resided there for 26 years and raised their 6 children there. They returned to Utah in 1976, building their home in Grantsville, Utah.

Florence’s first love was her family and her church. She gave lovingly and freely to both. She loved creating lovely gifts for others. She held many positions in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She was a teacher, counselor, and a President in all of the women’s organization in the church at the Ward level. She also served in the Los Angeles Primary and the Huntington Park Stake Primary Boards. She also served as the President of the Huntington Park Stake Young Women’s auxiliary for five years.

Florence and her Husband Ralph were called at the opening of the Jordan River Temple as Ordinance Workers where they served faithfully for 8 years. They also served on a full time mission for 18 months in the Texas San Antonio Mission. She loved life and people, especially her husband and children. They were the jewels of her existence

Florence is survived by one son, Lee Stout, (Linda) of Lehi, Utah, and 5 daughters, Sharon Goodpasture Wilcock (Steve), Tooele, Utah, Robyn Corbett of Grantsville Utah, Cynthia Butler (Richard) Grantsville, Utah, Valerie Waite (Jeffrey –Deceased) of Columbus Indiana, Melody Eldredge (Dale) of Mesquite Nevada. Also survived by 30 grandchildren, 62 Great grandchildren, and 3 Great Great grandchildren. Also survived by 2 sisters, Janet Heiniger of Tooele, Utah and Margaret Mair of Stockton, Utah.

Preceded in death by her parents, her husband Ralph O. Stout, two brothers, David and Ronald, and 3 sisters, Evelyn Lowry Dean, Virginia Mair and Berniece Niesporek. Also preceded by two son-in –laws, Jeffrey Waite, Gregory Goodpasture, and grandson Jeffrey Corbett.

There will be a viewing at 9:00 am Saturday the 25th of May at the Tooele 7th Ward, 1025 West Utah Avenue. The funeral will follow at 10:00 am in the same building. Interment will be in the Tooele Cemetery where she will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband Ralph O’Lee Stout.
