Tammy Banford

Tammy, 48, passed away peacefully in her home, surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, April 10th 2016, after a courageous battle with Huntington’s disease. She was born November 1967 in Salt Lake City, UT to Carroll Dean and Veola Hansen and was the fourth daughter of six children. As a young woman, inspired by her choir teacher who told her she had perfect pitch, Tammy taught herself to play the guitar and sang with her beautiful soprano voice, blessing all who heard her sing. In 1986 she graduated from Granite High School. She served in the Copenhagen, Denmark Mission from October 1988 – April 1990. When she returned home she met and married her sweetheart, Gary Lynn Banford Sr. in the Manti Temple on November 2, 1990. They have 5 children, Jessica Marie, Gary Banford Jr. (Chelsie), Brandon James, Tyler Christian, and Jake Garrison. They lived in Cottonwood Heights when first married, then moved to Grantsville where they have lived for the past 17 years. Tammy was a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings. She has traveled many places including Europe, Central America, Bahamas, Mexico and Hawaii. She loved her family and would spend many hours cooking and caring for her children’s and husband’s needs. She loved to laugh. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. She is preceded in death by her father, Carroll Dean Hansen, her younger brother Russell Hansen, and her sister Linda Whitaker. She is survived by her mother Veola Hansen, sisters Diana Hsu, Teena (Randy) Searle, and brother Ray Hansen. Her funeral services will be on Saturday, April 16th 2016 viewing 10am, services 11am.
