Stephan Raymond

Stephan L Raymond was born September 17, 1942 and passed peacefully at home on September 17, 2014. Stephan was born in the historic Pilkington Maternity Home and was the 4th generation to be born in Smithfield Utah. Stephan was born to Budd Clayton and Glenna Hyde and was loved by his step mother Evelyn Raymond. Stephan joined the Navy in 1960 and served as a secretary in the legal department. His faith led him to serve a LDS mission in Australia; he loved to read and study the gospel. He attended Utah State University where he studied music. His love of music blessed him with the opportunity to sing with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir for 10 years as well as the Jay Welch Chorale; his voice has blessed many funerals and church activities. Stephan married the love of his life, Marianne Pollei, on September 11, 1967 and they were blessed with 5 children and 13 grandchildren. Their youngest child Michelle was delivered at home by Stephan. After retiring from Kennecott Copper Corporation in 2003, Stephan kept busy with arts, crafts, and gardening. He enjoyed his family and they made many special memories camping, traveling, and playing with his grandchildren. Stephan’s sense of humor will be sorely missed by all who knew him. Stephan is survived by his wife and children; Kathryn (Gist) Wylie, David (Georgia), Elizabeth (Michael) Maycock, Stephan (Kristen) and Michelle (Lucas) Bell. He is also survived by his brothers Larry (Sheryl) and Craig (Louise), his step mother (Evelyn), step siblings, Susan (Frank) Priestley, Sharon Berquist, Darrel (Tammy) Drury and Steven (Diane) Drury. Stephan is preceded in death by his grandfather Clayton, his father Budd, his brother Daryl, his sister-in-law Emily Raymond and his brother in law Mark Berquist. Services will be held Saturday September 20th at the LDS chapel, 115 E. Cherry St. Grantsville, UT. Viewing will be at 11:00 am, followed by funeral services at 1:00 pm. Special thanks to Pine Mountain Hospice team for their compassionate end of life care. Thank you to all our wonderful friends and family. The choir of angels has its newest member. Thank you for everything Stephan, you are loved and will be forever missed. Services under the direction of Didericksen Memorial, 435-277-0050.
