Skyler Bart Trexler

June 8, 1988 — January 1, 2026

Orem

Skyler Bart Trexler passed away unexpectedly on January 1, 2026, at the age of 37, following a short illness due to complications from diabetes and pneumonia. He was surrounded by his sisters and was deeply loved by many.

Skyler was a fighter even before he was born. He entered this world on June 8, 1988, to Marla Sue Nielson Trexler and Douglas Bart Southwick. Throughout his life, Skyler faced many challenges, yet he met them with resilience, humor, and a joyful spirit. He especially loved teasing his sisters, nieces, and nephews, bringing laughter wherever he went.

Skyler was the fourth of five children and the only boy. He proudly became the first of his siblings to graduate high school and was honored as Homecoming King for his SPED class. He also participated in the Special Olympics, an accomplishment that brought him great pride.

Skyler had many favorite things. He loved Five Guys burgers and Krispy Kreme donuts, and his favorite shows included Bob’s Burgers, Beetlejuice, and Labyrinth. He enjoyed collecting tools, coins, and gold notes, and he was a devoted fan of the San Francisco 49ers and the Chicago Bulls.

Skyler was his mom’s favorite—and his sisters were perfectly okay with that, because he was also their favorite.

He is survived by his sisters: Kim Trexler Valdez; Marti (Dale) Olsen; Whitnee (Brawnson) Atwood; and Lacy (Andy) Mott; and his beloved nieces and nephews: Brycen Valdez, Tyson Trexler, Kara Olsen, Aubrie Olsen, Jo Olsen, Caleb Atwood, Kadence Atwood, Carson Mott, Jaxson Mott, and Nixon Mott. He is also survived by his grandmother, Pat Jakeman, along with many cousins, aunts, and uncles.

Skyler was preceded in death by his grandparents, Grandma and Grandpa Nielson; his mother, Marla Sue Nielson Trexler; his father, Douglas Bart Southwick; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

A celebration of Skyler’s life will be held on January 10, 2026, from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the LDS Church, located at 1875 N. 280 W., Orem, Utah 84057.

In honor of Skyler, please wear sports attire, hats, or the colors of his favorite teams, or anything Bob’s Burgers—his favorite show.
