Ruth Shields Pitt passed away peacefully on November 4, 2010 in Tooele Utah. She was born June 8, 1920 to Versal and Mary Sagers Shields in Pine Canyon Utah. Ruth went to school in Tooele and graduated from Tooele High School in 1938.
Mom severed a full-time mission from 1946-48 in the Western States Mission. Upon Returning home she married her sweetheart Donald Bryan Pitt on November 16, 1948 in the Salt Lake Temple. Donald passed away in 1985.
Ruth held numerous church callings, she especially loved working with the Dance festival’s and Roadshows. She loved to Dance and watch her children play sports. Ruth was employed several places as a young lady, but spent most of her working career at Allen’s Foodtown, and Wal-Mart.
After Don passed away Ruth served several missions including North Carolina-Greensboro, Ohio-Columbus, and a Stake Mission. She was also a Temple worker at the Jordan River Temple.
Ruth is survived by her children, Johnny B (Mary) Pitt, Tooele; R. Craig (Doelene) Pitt, Grantsville; Alan V, Pine Canyon; Barry V (Michelle) Grantsville; Peggy (Larry Horn) Erda .One sister, Helen Rivers (Grantsville) and one brother Versal Shields (Tooele). She has 18 Grandchildren and 30 Great Grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her Husband of 37 years, Donald, Parents, Sisters: Donna Dixon, Agnes Benson, Dora Barnett, and Anna Palmer. Brothers: Alvin Shields and Lowell Shields.
Services will be held at the Lakeview Chapel, Pine Canyon, Utah with a viewing Wednesday, November 10th from 6-8 at the Church, and Services will be Thursday, November 11th at 11:00 with a viewing prior starting at 9:30 am. Funeral services entrusted with Didericksen Memorial Funeral Home.
