Robin Baird

Robin Brent Baird passed away peacefully in his home after an unselfish and courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Robin was born April 29, 1955, in Torrence, Calif. His parents are Bengala (Bennie) Flores Baird and the late Marvin Rex Baird. His siblings are Terry (Jan) Baird, Vincent (MiMi) Baird, Todd (Leslie) Baird, Kenna (Ted) Aagard, Kathy (Chris) Caldwell.

He married Annette Christensen on Dec. 18, 1981, and they were sealed for time and all eternity in the Jordan River Temple Dec. 18, 1982. Robin cherished his children Sonny (Jodi), Michael (Candice), Emily (Shaun) Johnson, Lauryl, and Melissa. He delighted in his six grandchildren: Britt, Ty, Shelby, Josslyn, Isaac, and Lincoln.

Robin walked tall and stood out in a crowd. For reasons beyond his physical stature, Robin was a “giant of a man,” especially to his family. He cared about others and always gave back to the community. He owned and operated Robin’s Drive-in and Netty’s Restaurant, which he loved. He graduated from USU in 1991, in business administration. While owning Netty’s, he was hired by Clean Harbors, where he worked in a management position until his death.

Robin valued education and enjoyed photography, hunting, and coaching. He organized Grantsville’s first accelerated softball team, the “Strikers.” During his life, he has influenced the youth in the community through his businesses and coaching. He has been a member of the Grantsville Volunteer Fire Department, sat on the Grantsville City Council and Tooele County Board of Health. Also, he was named Honorary Chapter Farmer in the Grantsville FFA and inducted into the Grantsville High School Athletic Hall of Fame. He valued his membership in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and enjoyed serving in his various callings. He was preceded in death by his father, Marvin Baird, and his daughter, Britt Baird.

A viewing will be held at the Grantsville West Stake Center, 115 E. Cherry Street (west of Grantsville High School), on Friday, Dec. 11, from 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Dec. 12, at 12 p.m., also at the Grantsville West Stake Center. A viewing prior to the services will be held from 10-11:30 a.m.
