Richard Ray (Dick) Johnston passed away peacefully Oct 12, 2013 surrounded by his family. He was born May 1, 1928 in Gillette, Wyoming to Manning and Bethel Rowe Johnston. He married Shirley Watson September 27, 1946. Later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple December 22, 1998. Dick moved to Grantsville in 1943 and graduated from Grantsville High School in 1946. He loved playing all sports and played in the State Basketball Championship in 1946. He played for Utah State on a scholarship. He worked for U.S. Lime from 1957 to 1993. He became the superintendent and later went on to become General Manager of Flux and Dolomite. In 1997 he was baptized a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He served as a member of the Bishopric of the Grantsville 3rd Ward. They are the parents of 5 children: Deanna (Paul) Matthews, Richard Craig Johnston, Debra (Jack) Allred, Jana Ruybal, Jolynn (Bob) Conrad; 12 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren. 3 sisters, Audrey Maycock, Phillis McQuay, and Marge Gull. He is preceded in death by his Parents, sister Audrey, and son Richard Craig (Dude). Funeral services will be held on Friday October 18, 2013 at 11:30 a.m. the LDS Church located at 428 S Hale, in Grantsville. A viewing will be held from 10:00-11:00 a.m. prior to services. Interment will follow at the Grantsville City Cemetery. Services entrusted with Didericksen Memorial, 435-277-0050.
