Michael John Parsons

December 17, 1969 — November 15, 2022

Grantsville

Michael John Parsons was born December 17th, 1969 in Whitecourt, Alberta Canada to Marjorie Sanford and David Parsons.

Michael lived a devoted life of service for his family, his country, and his fellow men. He achieved the rank of Chief Master Sergeant in the Air Force Reserve, and spent his life as a Police Officer, Fire Fighter, Fire Instructor, and as a Paramedic for the EOD among other places. In the Air Force, he was a part of the 419th Fighter Wing at Hill Air Force Base. He served 4 tours of duty, and was the honored recipient of many awards throughout his lifetime, including Airman of the Year (1998, 2006), the Chiefs Award (2002), AFRC Military Fire Office of the Year (2005), and the Commander's Award for Civilian Service from The Army (2017).

Michael had a deep love for his family and was obsessed with his grandchildren, often being referred to as the ‘baby whisperer.” He had an incredibly fun-loving personality, and all those who knew him loved him. He was the type of man who would give his life to his community as a Fire Fighter, while also volunteering as the soccer and football coach for his children. Service was the focal point of his life, and he lived as an outstanding example of someone who gave their life in service to others. He was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and served a church service mission with his wife at the Family History Center in Salt Lake. He always reminded his loved ones that this life will always bring trials, but to always remember the big picture.

Michael is survived by his eternal sweetheart, Ann, and four children: Mikey (Ashley) Parsons, Brooke (Aaron) Angus, Mandy (Chandler) Hertzler, and Brittney Parsons. He had and adored five wonderful grandchildren: Andrew, McCoy, Boston, Kaylee, and Elliana. He is also survived by his parents, David Parsons and Marjorie (Robert) Sanford, and 4 siblings: Cyndi (Joel) Jackson, Daniel (Melissa) Parsons, Amber Geissler-Sanford, and Billy (Shannon) Parsons. He is preceded in death by his brothers, Chris and James Sanford. He was instantly loved by all who met him and he will be deeply missed.

Services to celebrate his life will be held on Tuesday, November 22nd 2022. The viewing and funeral services will be held at the LDS Church Building (550 E Durfee, Grantsville, UT 84029).
