Mary Jolene Wilder

March 3, 1958 — June 5, 2025

Grantsville

Mary Jolene Wilder, 67, as in life, quietly left her earthly home for her heavenly home June 5, 2025.

Mary was born March 3, 1958 to Llewellyn Oliver Wilder, Jr. and Lois Durfee Wilder in Great Falls, Montana. She was a quiet, humble and gentle soul, but with a strong presence. She was an innate leader and teacher with powerful insight at home and abroad. During her lifetime she spent most of her energy preserving, connecting with, and strengthening relationships as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and teacher. Her life was one of service in her community, church and state assignments. She lived and worked in Japan for IBEX Corp, the Utah Department of Family Services and LDS Family services, serving the needs of children and families. In addition, when she saw a need, she would develop and implement specific programs to address those needs. A few examples are: the implementation of the Critical Incident Debriefing program in Tooele County, the development of a behavioral day treatment program for children at Charter Summit Hospital and starting the Children’s Justice Center in Tooele.

As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints she served in many ward, stake and temple leadership roles. She also served as a missionary in the Des Moines Iowa mission.

Mary loved living in Japan, reading, spending time in nature and music. Many recall her years of musical service in her church and the community which she began at age 8 playing for church services. She also played the flute in the BYU band, the harp, ukelele and reluctantly sang. Her choir programs were always a holiday favorite in her local ward.

Mary will be missed. She was preceded in death by her parents (Lew and Lois) and her brother (Kenneth). She is survived by her sister Ramona Wilder of Grantsville, Sister-in law Beverly Wilder (Kenneth), niece Courtney (Brandon) Norman, nephew Wyatt Wilder (Claire) and niece Martina Wilder of St. Anthony, Idaho.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 11, 2025 at 11 a.m. in the LDS chapel, 428 South Hale Street, Grantsville. Viewing will be held an hour prior to the service. Interment will be in the Grantsville City Cemetery.
