Mary Silva Brown passed away peacefully in her sleep while doing one of the things she loved most, traveling with her sweetheart Jerry in Oregon. She was born August 1, 1960 to Don and Brenda Silva in Vallejo Ca. Mary graduated with high honors from Grantsville High School in 1978. She received her AS degree from Snow College where she graduated with high honors in 1980. She earned her BS and MS degrees in Sociology from USU where again she received high academic honors. Mary was very proud of her academic accomplishments, she maintained a 4.0 GPA throughout her academic pursuits. She married her man Jerry D. Brown June 21, 1986 in Las Vegas NV. Mary worked for the Utah State Division of Family Services for 30 years where she wrote and presented many of the training programs used by DCFS today. In 2000, the Governor honored her for her tireless work when he named her Utah State employee of the year. She retired in December to spend quality time with her family. Mary and Jerry made their home in the Salt Lake valley where they raised their son Nicholas Brown. They later moved back home to Grantsville. Mary loved to travel with her family, Jerry, Nick his wife Jenny and Mary’s two “handsomes” and the loves of her life her twin grandsons Alex and Andy. Mary suffered with Jerry as they traveled around the country to watch his beloved Cubbies lose. She loved to talk and could make a friend wherever she went. Our lives will be much too quiet without her. Mary is survived by her husband Jerry, their son Nick and his wife Jenny, and their sons Alex and Andy, parents Don and Brenda Silva, brothers Don (Treasa), Andy (Lola), Ray (Laurie) and Bucky (Shelly), many nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters in-law, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends who loved her very much. She was preceded in death by her mother and father in-law DeVone and Florence Brown and her maternal and paternal grandparents. In accordance with Mary’s wishes she was cremated. Funeral mass will be held Friday September 27th from 11am to noon at St Marguerite Catholic Church, 15 S 7th St in Tooele Utah. Graveside service will follow mass at the Grantsville cemetery.
