Lowell Durfee

Lowell Philip Durfee
Lowell Philip Durfee was born Oct. 18, 1921 to Vendla and Frank Durfee in Heyburn, Idaho, and left this earth for his next journey on Dec. 13, 2011. He love reading books, especially books based on historical and scientific facts. He was a man of unlimited vocabulary, articulate speech and boundless ability to have fun. Lowell has several traits that were admired by all who knew him. One of these traits was the ability to endure the many tragedies in his life quietly and with dignity, and to move on to have fun and enjoy life to the fullest. He was an avid fisherman and bicyclist, and did both into his ninetieth year. Lowell showed his love for family not by words, but by action everyday of his life. Lowell served his country in World War II in the Merchant Marines and was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He is survived by his brother Cyril; daughters Lola (John) Stout and Gwen (Dave) Murray; special grandson Brian (Jessica) Smith; grandchildren Ryan, Devin, Candace, Kamille, Austin and Adrienne; great-grandchildren Brian Jr., Dylan, Brandi, Dustin, Destiny, Zachary, Chrystal, Maya, Desiree, Meg, Veronica, Claire, Jackson, Lucas, Byron, Alexis, Braxton, Samuel, Joshua, Whitney, Zachary, Abigail, and Lillian; and fifth generation great-great-grandchildren Brianna, Jaylee, Myah and Maddison. He is also survived by in-laws Earlen Hamp, Sharon Owens and Chuck and Kay Anderson. He was preceded in death by his adored wife Ida, son Phil, granddaughter Janiel, grandson Denny, brothers Marion, Marcus, Kenneth and Jay, and only sister Chloe. Graveside services will be held Dec. 19 at 10 a.m. in the Grantsville City Cemetery.
