Logan Messick

2003 - 2016 Logan Lloyd Messick was born February 13, 2003 in Cape Girardeau Missouri. He spent the first three years of his life in and out of foster care. In May of 2006, he found his forever family. He was sealed to his parents, Dan and Sarah Messick in the Saint Louis Missouri Temple. Logan has lived with his family in Idaho Falls, ID; Gallatin, MO; Centerville, UT; and Stockton, UT. He passed away peacefully at home on June 4th, 2016. Logan loved legos, puzzles, and coloring. His favorite color was red (probably due to the many compliments he received for his beautiful red hair). Logan loved music and learned to play many simple tunes on a keyboard. He was always eager to learn and continued to ask for new spelling words right up until the week he passed away. Logan was full of love for everyone and expressed that love in every action. Helen Keller once said, “Although the world is full of suffering, it is also full of the overcoming of it.” Logan’s life is a testament to this truth. He suffered with the loss of his birth family, the instability of foster care, and a resulting difficulty with learning to trust. He spent his entire life in and out of hospitals and clinics, undergoing painful and frightening procedures. Logan endured a slow but steady loss of physical ability and was plagued with anxieties and phobias. Despite his many challenges, Logan was nearly always happy and cheerful. He woke up with a smile and went to bed with a smile. His gentle spirit and sunny temperament amazed everyone who knew him. In his short life, Logan was able to transcend his physical challenges and excel in the things that mattered most to him. He has inspired countless family members, friends, acquaintances and even strangers. He is a cherished son, brother, grandson, cousin, and friend. He will be dearly missed. In lieu of flowers, a gofundme account has been set up to help cover the funeral expenses. https://gofund.me/285kt4dc. Services entrusted with Didericksen Memorial, 435-277-0050.
