Lewis Hunsaker

Lewis Alexander Hunsaker was born March 1, 1924 in Elwood, Utah to Burnice and Elna (Anderson) Hunsaker. He passed away February 18, 2016 at his home in Murray, Utah from complications of congestive heart disease. Lew was a true Renaissance man. Roman rider, mechanic, Navy seaman (WWII), pilot, long-haul trucker and long-time member of the Beehive Statesmen Barbershop Chorus, he enjoyed a wide variety of activities and a keen sense of humor throughout his life. He married Betty Lou Liljenquist January 5, 1942. Their marriage was blessed with 5 children: Terrie (Roger) Turness, Conrad (Diane), Gary (Roxana), Paul (Glenda) and Mark (Joyce). Marriage solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. Betty passed away in 1997. Lew unexpectedly found love again at the age of 83. He married Sharilyn (Kroll) Hunsaker on September 14, 2007 in the Jordan River Temple. Shari was able to meet Lew toe-to-toe in exchanging smart remarks. Theirs proved to be a great love story and left each a better person. Lew was preceded in death by his parents, wife Betty, brother, and one grandson. He is survived by his wife Shari, five children and their spouses, ten grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, seven great-great-grandchildren and two sisters. The family wishes to extend special thanks to Ellen Rojas for her devoted and loving care through the years. Lew considered her family and we acknowledge her grief at his passing. Per Lew’s wishes there will be no viewing. A graveside service will be held at Lakeview Memorial Cemetery, 1640 Lakeview Drive, Bountiful, Utah on Saturday, February 20, 2016 at 11:00am. Following the service, guests are invited to join the family for lunch at Chuck-A-Rama at 212 S 500 W in Bountiful for a farewell ‘pig out’ in Lew’s honor. Services entrusted with Didericksen Memorial, 435-277-0050.
