Dawn LaVerne Hunt

June 1, 1931 — March 17, 2023

Grantsville

Our beautiful mother, grandmother, sister, and friend to all left us to enter into the embrace of her loving savior on Friday, March 17, 2023 due to kidney failure.

She was born on June 1, 1931 in Caineville, Utah to Floyd and Laura Hunt. She loved going to Torrey to spend time "down home" with her family. She especially loved to go fishing and picking pinenuts.

She married Junior Taylor "JT"  Hunt on October 29, 1949. After Junior passed away in 1985, they were sealed for all eternity. They were the very proud parents of five children who were truly the light of their lives.

Together, they started the business of Westside Auto in 1957. Mom was a very good businesswoman. She worked hard and even drove the wrecker.

She was well known for her delicious pies and rolls. She was a wonderful cook and homemaker. She was generous and kind, many times she would feed everyone else and she would go without.

She worked at the State Capitol with her sister, Bernice, for many years as a kitchen hostess. The legislators said she made the best toast ever!

She was a very active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was a wonderful Relief Society president. She also served in the young women's organization, and was a faithful temple worker for many years working in the extraction program. She was a very devoted and loving ministering sister as well.

She was so proud of her children and bragged about them constantly. They in turn are so proud of her and are grateful to call her mom.

She is survived by her children: Junie Gay Harlow (Cal) of Vernal, Floyd Hunt, Max Jay Hunt (Michelle), Don Hunt (Trudi), Arnie W. Hunt (Kathleen) all of Grantsville. She cherished her 19 grandchildren, 49 great grandchildren, 6 great great grandchildren, and had 2 more on the way. She is also survived by her sister, Shanna Rae Simkins of Kaysville, and in-laws Max B. "Tub" and Nadine Hunt of Grantsville.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Junior "JT" Hunt; her sisters, Lenore Peterson, Norma Busenbark, Bernice Hiatt; son-in-law, Denny Anderson; granddaughter, Stephanie Hunt; and 3 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 25, 2023 at the Grantsville 7th Ward located in the Apple chapel at 415 W. Apple St. in Grantsville, Utah.
