Laura Dawn Young Garrard

She attended Tooele High 1990 - 1992 and graduated from Grantsville High in 1993.

She pursued higher education at Utah State University and graduated with a bachelor's degree in social work. 

She worked in a variety of capacities throughout the years; with many of her jobs working with troubled youth, women and mothers at risk and most recently at NATSU working with Native American youth. She loved learning and was continuing to further her education. 

Laura met Justin Garrard in 2008. They were married and sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on Oct 25, 2008.

They built their home together in Lake Point, Utah. They were blessed with an amazing son, Aiden Justin Garrard on August 21, 2009. 

Laura was a beautiful daughter of her Heavenly Father. She experienced some heavy medical and mental health challenges throughout her life.

She was always gracious to accept help and strived to overcome these challenges. She enjoyed reading, working in her flower garden, playing games where she loved being on the same team as her husband, Justin. She also enjoyed decorating their home and watching movies. Her greatest joy came from being Aiden’s mom and Justin’s best friend. She loved both of them dearly; they were her whole world. Even though she had sleep challenges she was still willing to try camping, floating the river and doing outdoor activities with her family. She didn't particularly enjoy the outdoors but enjoyed seeing Aiden & Justin thrive there. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and was recently called to serve in the Primary with Justin. 

She is survived by her husband, Justin and son Aiden of Lake Point, Utah. Her mother, Laurie Young Perkins (David Perkins), Siblings: Mandy Jarvis (Randall), Crystal Wallace (Scott), Heidi Alger (Matthew), Mark Young (Marie), Karl Young (Lindsay) Philip ( April) and Cameron Young (Tom). In-laws: Leonard and Colleen Garrard, Jill Pearson (Kirk), Jana Winn (Rodney), and Jodi (Jason) Brunson, as well as many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her father, Morris Don Young.

Funeral will be held Saturday, February 25, 2023 at the Lake Point Chapel - 1366 E. Canyon Rd. Viewing from 9:30-10:45, Funeral at 11:00.  Interment will be in the Lake Point, Utah Cemetery.
