Jolynne Brown Burr

November 19, 1942 — June 26, 2025

Jolynne Brown Burr, born November 19, 1942 in Tooele, Utah, passed away June 26, 2025 in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Her parents are Robert Maurice Brown and Jane Elizabeth Rydalch Brown. She grew up in her beloved hometown of Grantsville, Utah, where she learned to work hard beside her dad on the farm. She graduated from Grantsville High School with the famous Class of 1961. She was a cheerleader, lariat, homecoming queen, voted most talented, and served as co-chair of her junior prom. She attended College of Southern Utah, where she was a member of the Chi Sigma Upsilon sorority and was selected Snow Queen. She graduated with a teaching degree from Utah State University in 1965. She taught school in Granger, Tooele, and Grantsville. In 1967, she married the love of her life, John D. Burr. Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake City Temple in April of 1978. John’s career took them to Sherman Oaks, California, Plano, Texas, Grantsville, and finally the Mesa, Arizona area. Wherever she lived, she was active in the LDS church serving as Primary President, Relief Society President, teacher and missionary, with John, in the China Hong Kong Mission. She and John traveled the world, but she especially made a point to travel home to Grantsville every year to attend the Old Folks Sociable, Grantsville Queen Contest, and 4th of July festivities. She never met a stranger and always made a connection to Grantsville or a relative. She and John have three children Cary, Colby and his wife, Natalie, and Janan and her husband Matt Gless. She is survived by her children, eight grandchildren and three great-granddaughters. She is also survived by her brothers and sisters, Janice Marriott, Maureen Peterson and her husband, Roger, Richard Brown and his wife, Angela, and Cory Brown. A viewing at 10:30 am and funeral service at 12:00 pm will be held on July 3rd at 428 S Hale St. Interment will take place in the Grantsville City Cemetery.

A memorial service to honor her life will be held in Mesa, Arizona at a later date, with details to follow.
