James Leonard Palmer

On April 20,2023 we lost our beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and great, great-grandfather, James Leonard Palmer. He was born October 31, 1931 in Salt Lake City, Utah to James Barrus Palmer and Dora Manning. He grew up in Wendover until he reached high school age, then transferred to Grantsville, Utah, for his finals years of schooling. Then, he joined the United States Air Force and served four years in the Korean War from 1951-1955. He was employed over the years at the salt plant, Magcorp, Hercules, and EG&G with various positions. Mostly mechanical maintenance and supervisory positions. He met the love of his life, Maureen G Cardon, at the Tooele skating rink in 1948, and married her in Elko, Nevada in 1953. Later solemnized their marriage in 1989 at the Salt Lake Temple. They had four children: David James Palmer (Lori), Marilyn Jean Chin (Terry), Gary Lee Palmer (Marilyn), Patricia Ann Terry (Blain), 12 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, and 3 great, great-grandchildren. He loved his grandchildren. Five generations is a rare opportunity to be able to celebrate his growing prosperity. He was looking forward to return home to celebrate a eternal marriage with Maureen, his beloved wife who had passed on four years ago. He was waiting patiently to meet his loved ones and the Lord whom he loved dearly. He is survived by his children, grand children, great-grandchildren, and his great great-grandchildren. He love being a grandpa and enjoyed watching them grow through the years. His services will be held on April 29, at the stake center on 550 E Durfee St, Grantsville, with a viewing at 10:00 followed by the funeral at 11:00. Interment will follow at the Grantsville City Cemetery.
