James Willard Henwood, 78, passed away peacefully at his home in Grantsville, Utah, on September 22, 2025. He was born October 31, 1946, in Tooele, Utah, to Willard Henwood and Ruth Hammond. James grew up in Grantsville and graduated from Grantsville High School. He later returned to the home on Clark Street that his father built, where he spent his final days.
After high school, James proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. He was married to Becky, with whom he shared part of his life, and later married Debra Ann Wilde on November 7, 1992. Together, they built a life filled with love and companionship.
James was a kind and generous man, always willing to help anyone in need. He loved spending quiet moments watching YouTube videos and the hummingbirds that visited his yard. His dogs, Chili and Sugar, brought him great joy and companionship.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Willard and Ruth, and his brother Gordon. He is survived by his children: Gerri Christen, Shelli (Ben) Roberts, Steven (Natalie) Henwood, Dean (Kim) Henwood, and Dennis (Angie) Henwood; stepchildren Arthur (Dani) Peasnall and Lena McCotry; as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will carry on his memory.
The family will hold a Celebration of James’s Life at a later date.
