"Ike" George Ronald Lougy

August 6, 1940 — November 18, 2023

Grantsville

Our dear husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend completed his earthly mission and has returned home to his Heavenly Father after a short battle with lung cancer. Although our hearts are filled with sorrow at his passing, we are forever grateful to have had him in our lives, and are comforted in knowing we will see him again.

He was raised and grew up in Grantsville. He had great athletic abilities and played many sports during his high school years with football being his favorite.  After high school he joined the Navy and after serving for a short time was honorably discharged.

He married the love of his life, Coralie Washburn Lougy on June 8th 1962 in the Salt Lake Temple. The two then built their home on Quirk Street in Grantsville, where they raised their three daughters, Kathryn, Teresa, and Sharon.

He worked in numerous places around the county, some of which include, Solar Salt, US Magnesium, Hercules, and finished out his career at Tooele Army Depot, where he retired.  During his time at US Magnesium he finished 4 years of college to obtain a degree as a Millwright.

Ike was an avid hunter throughout his life. He has many animals he claimed for himself with his most prized being his 6 point trophy Bull Elk, which he named ‘Sir Henry’. Sir Henry was strategically placed on the wall to greet family and share his space in his favorite room, where he watched TV in his favorite recliner chair.  He also spent much time in his den where there were many more unique mounts that he enjoyed. He loved the great outdoors in any capacity. Many fond memories were made while camping and fishing with his family.

He and Coralie loved to travel. They enjoyed many fun trips together and with extended family and friends.  He loved his wife and spoiled her every chance he got. One of his very favorite things to do was dance with her and she loved it as much as he did. He was a wonderful dancer with a feel for music unlike most. They danced to the beat of Elvis Presley more than any other, as this was his favorite.

He was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.  Over the years he gained a strong testimony of the gospel and he faithfully honored his priesthood.  One of his favorite callings was   working in the baptistry in the Salt Lake Temple with Coralie. They were blessed to serve in that capacity right up until the last day it closed for renovation.

Family was his pride and joy! He was proud of each and every one of his posterity and he would often say at family gatherings, “Coralie, look what we started”.

Ike leaves behind his dear wife of 61 years, Coralie. His three daughters Kathryn (Kirk) Matthews, Teresa Hall, and Sharon (Dale) Fonger. His 10 grandchildren—Brysie, Chase, Dalton, Rylie and Landon. Vanessa and Presley.  Kort, Kaden and Kejay. As well as 13 great grandchildren with one on the way. He is also survived by his 3 siblings, Trudy (Jerry) Marsden, Tony (Marlene) Clark and Lou Clark.

We Miss You Already!!
