Our beloved husband, daddy, grandpa, great grandpa, great great grandpa, brother and friend passed away July 2, 2015. Born to Enrique and Lucinda Lavato on October 4, 1930. Gilbert's mother passed away 17 days after he was born. His Uncle and Aunt, Tranquilino and Carlota Manchego raised him as their own, to Gilbert they were Mom and Dad. He always made everyone feel very special! Gilbert married his (honey) Rita Torres on September 2, 1950, they were married nearly 65 years. Gilbert is survived by beloved Wife Rita, Daughters Debbie Merino (Richard) and Diane Harlan (Frank), Sons Darrell Manchego and Doug Manchego (Valarie). Valarie was more like a daughter than a daughter in law. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren. Sisters Clorinda, Virginia and Sylvia. Inlaws Max Martinez (Joan), Frank Martinez (Aurora), Lorraine Archuleta (Larry), Elaine Martinez, special niece Williene Lucero and many other nieces and nephews which he loved dearly. Preceded in death by Grandson Andrew Ryan Manchego, his parents and Inlaws Lydia and Max Martinez, Brothers and Sisters Carlos, Flaviano, Orlando, Clorinda, Lola and Irma (Manchego Side) Henry, Florence, Jenny and Ellian (Lavato Side). And very special friends who were more like brothers, Alonzo Romero and Jake Aragon. Viewing will be held July 8, 2015 6-8 PM with Rosary starting at 7:00. Funeral will be July 9, 2015. Viewing 10-11, Mass starting at 11:00 AM. St. Marguerite's Church, Tooele UT. Interment will follow at Tooele City Cemetery. Services entrusted with Didericksen Memorial, 435-277-0050.
