Georgia "Lyn" Montgomery

May 25, 1945 — March 30, 2024

Georgia “Lyn” Montgomery passed away peacefully at age 78 on March 30th at Our House Assisted Living in Tooele Utah. She has finally found peace after a long decline from Alzheimer’s disease.

Lyn was born on May 25, 1945 in Salt Lake City, UT to Opal and Stanley Johnson. She grew up in the Rose Park area of Salt Lake City and was awarded Miss Rose Park, and later crowned Miss Utah in 1966. She competed in the Miss America Pageant and was awarded “Most Talented” after her dramatic performance of Medea.

Following her passion to be an actress and perform theatre, she moved to New York City to pursue that dream. There she met her first husband, the late Douglas Kerr (1930-2015). They amicably divorced in 1977. Lyn worked at American Airlines and traveled the world, bringing back souvenirs and stories from Italy, England, Greece, and many other destinations.

Lyn relocated to California where she met James “Jim” Montgomery (1946-2019) at a dance in Hollywood. After a lovely courtship they were married in the Manti temple in 1981.

Lyn was a devoted mother, crafter, and entrepreneur with an indomitable spirit. Together, Jim and Lyn achieved their dream of building a home in Morgan, Utah, where they raised a family. Lyn is survived by her brother, sister, five children and 20 grandchildren.  We love you, miss you, and will always remember you.

A funeral service is scheduled for 11:00 AM on April 6th, 2024 at the LDS chapel at 5378 West Old Highway Road Mountain Green, UT.
