Betty Haws, 87, passed peacefully from this life on Tuesday, 24 July, 2012, surrounded by her family. She was born 15 March, 1925 in Springville, Utah to William and Bella Bird Bringhurst. She grew up in Springville and graduated from Springville High School – class of 1943. She married Melvin A. Brandon in 1944, later divorced. They had one son, Joe Allen (Maureen) Brandon. She married Ralph J. Haws on 13 September, 1946 in Lehi, Utah. They were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. Their children are Ray Lee (Julie) Haws, Betty Ann Moss, Linda (Michael) Coleman, Carol (Randy) Caldwell, Mary Lou (Lawrence) Beck. She has 17 grandchildren, 45 great grandchildren and 2 great, great grandchildren. She served in many callings in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and especially loved the Primary. Betty wrote song lyrics and painted scenery for many roadshows. Her other talents include drawing, oil painting, sewing, crocheting, and gardening. She wrote poetry and was known for her Christmas poems. She played the spoons and loved to sing. She worked with girl scouts and 4-H and volunteered in the reading program at the elementary school. She dearly loved her family and family reunions. She will be greatly missed. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, nine siblings and one great grandchild. The viewing and the funeral will be held at the LDS Church at 180 South Coleman. Viewing will be Friday, July 27, 2012 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. The funeral will on Saturday, July 28, 2012 at 10:00 with viewing one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at the Tooele City Cemetery.
