Christy Lynn Gibson, age 58, passed away peacefully in the early morning of April 1, 2026, at her home, surrounded by her loving family.
Christy was born on July 28, 1967, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Merlin and Lillis Warr. She was raised in Grantsville, Utah, where she graduated from high school in 1985. On April 5, 1985, she married the love of her life, Kirk S. Gibson, and together they shared nearly 41 wonderful years of marriage.
Christy and Kirk raised two sons, Dillon (Megan) Gibson and Cody Gibson, and welcomed many others into their lives who lovingly called her “Mama” or “Auntie Christy.”
She dedicated 30 years to the Tooele County School District. Christy began her career working in the lunchroom before becoming a para-educator. In 2002, she was honored as the Utah Outstanding Paraeducator for the Classroom. She later earned her degree in Early Childhood Education and spent the last seven years of her career teaching preschool, where she touched the lives of many young children.
Christy also enjoyed supporting her husband through the Grantsville Fire Auxiliary, where she served two terms as auxiliary president.
She found her greatest joy in spending time with her family, especially at their cabin in Joes Valley. She loved the outdoors—camping, hunting, relaxing at the beach, and attending her children’s and grandchildren’s ball games.
Christy is survived by her devoted husband, Kirk; her children, Dillon (Megan) Gibson, Cody Gibson, and Cassidy (Eric) Dobbs; and her cherished grandchildren, Hadlie Gibson, Cooper Gibson, Taylor Dobbs, Zaycie Land, and Jace Dobbs. She is also survived by her parents, Merlin and Lillis Warr; her brothers, Guy (Fay) Warr and Jerry (Kristy) Warr; and many beloved cousins, nieces, and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Rick Warr; her mother-in-law, Bonnie Gibson; her uncle, Ronald Warr; and her aunt, Ranae Blaisure.
A viewing will be held Monday, April 6th, at the LDS chapel (415 W. Apple St., Grantsville) from 10:00 to 10:45 am. The funeral services will follow at 11:00 am. Interment will be at the Grantsville Cemetery.
