Chester Wade Stearns

December 22, 1957 — August 2, 2025

Lake Point

Chester Wade Stearns passed away peacefully at home in the arms of his loving wife, Pamela Padilla Stearns, on August 2, 2025. He was 67 years old. Born on December 22, 1957, at the Tooele Army Depot, Chester lived a life marked by deep faith, unwavering conviction, and a servant’s heart.

He is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 49 years, Pam, and their three children: Amanda Stearns, and her partner Cristi DeMarco; Cheston Stearns and his wife, Joanna; and Frances Hollinger and her husband, Marcus. Chester was a proud grandfather to eight grandchildren: Annabelle, ClaraJane, Elliana, Jezreel, Gracelynn, Ramona, and Simeon. He was preceded in death by his granddaughter MaryEmma Grace Stearns, as well as by his parents, Valentine Edward Stearns and Fern Stearns.

Chester married Pamela Padilla on October 22, 1976, and they began their life together in Grantsville, Utah. From the age of 20, Chester gave his life to the service of the gospel, faithfully ministering since 1977. He pastored with the Church of God of Prophecy for over 25 years and, in later years, co-pastored The Shepherd’s House in LakePoint, Utah, alongside his wife, Pam. Together, they opened their hearts and home to countless people, always caring for the needs of others. Their door was never closed—many family members, friends, and strangers found shelter, love, and belonging in their home.

Chester was not only a pastor but a true servant of Christ, embodying the message he preached. He lived the gospel through action—caring for the poor, the orphan, the widow, and the stranger without judgment. He was gentle, patient, and known for never raising his voice or speaking in anger. He was a hard worker, a faithful provider, and a lifelong student of the Word of God.

In 1997, Chester was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, a battle he faced with courageous faith. Though his body was challenged, his spirit never wavered. He believed wholeheartedly in God’s healing power—and indeed, experienced several miraculous breakthroughs. Three different times he rose from a wheelchair, and once even progressed from using a walker to riding a bicycle. Through it all, he continued to preach faith, disciple others, and demonstrate hope in the promises of God.

Chester also had a fun side—he was an avid sports fan who cheered loudly for the Minnesota Vikings and just as enthusiastically for whoever happened to be playing the Denver Broncos. But most of all, he was a man of deep conviction who always chose what was right, even when it was hard.

His legacy is one of love, generosity, and faith. Chester Wade Stearns has now entered his eternal reward, welcomed with the voice of his loving Father proclaiming: “Well done, My good and faithful servant.”

Pam would like to express heartfelt thanks to the many who cared for Chester during his final season, including CNS Hospice and Bristlecone Hospice. Special gratitude is extended to Dr. Glen and Lisa Thompson for their friendship, care, and unwavering support—along with many others who surrounded them with love.

Service details will be announced by the family.
