Amy Louise Stone Wrathall

April 5, 1942 — July 20, 2025

Lindon

On a beautiful Easter morning in April 1942, Amy Louise joined the family of Elmer & Annie (Matkin) Stone in the lovely Teton Valley of Idaho. Annie must have been one amazing lady, as Mom liked to tell the story of her parents going to church that morning, April 5, and right afterward, her arrival in mortality was welcomed. The second of four children, Louise had a cheerful, friendly, and outgoing personality. Ready to strike up a comfortable conversation with anyone, no matter their walk of life or circumstances, she was interested in everyone and eager to make new friends. Social graces came easily to Louise and as a young woman, she chose to serve a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, being called to the Northern Far East Mission and faithfully serving in Japan for 18 months.

As she went to school, she realized she had a knack for caring for others and a quick mind for understanding and remembering details. These skill naturally took her to study nursing. She graduated from nursing school with excellent marks, becoming a trust-worthy and capable nurse. The knowledge she gained, she continued to use to the benefit of all her family and friends throughout her life.

While she was working as a nurse in the Utah Valley Hospital, her roommate shared with Louise that she was interested in a handsome young man. Much to her roommate’s dismay, the young man became interested in Louise when introduced to this young beauty! Don Morris Wrathall and Amy Louise Stone were married and sealed for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake Temple on 26 September 1968.

They welcomed their first daughter, Chantre’, in Provo, Utah. Shortly afterwards, they moved to Tucson, Arizona where they delightedly rejoiced in the birth of their next daughter, Alecia. A few years afterwards, their final daughter, Andrea Natasha, joined her joyful sisters and parents. Using her talents to sew, Louise made beautiful matching dresses for her three girls for several special occasions and even when there was no occasion and they just wanted something pretty to wear.

Louise shared her love of reading and choosing good books with all her children. Throughout her life she collected books until she had built a treasure trove of the best literature. Always a gifted musician, she often played the piano and sang with her family, teaching her daughters to harmonize and enrolling them in music lessons. Even up to the very last months of her life, her wit and sense of humor kept people in stitches. She often made self-deprecating remarks that were truly delightful and induced many chuckles.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Andrea Natasha, her husband, Don, her oldest sister Nancy, and her younger brother Albert. She is survived by her sister Beth Osborne, her daughters Chantre (Rod) Hoer, and Alecia (David) Jaffe. She is dearly loved and missed by all who knew her. Until we meet again may you feel much joy and peace.

A viewing will be held at Utah Valley Mortuary on Saturday, July 26 from 4pm-6pm.

A viewing will also be held at Didericksen Memorial in Grantsville Utah from 9 am-9:30am, Saturday, August 2, 2025, followed by a graveside service.
