Agatha Romero Gomez

Agatha R. Gomez, 96, passed away on Saturday, June 24, 2023 surrounded by her family.  Agatha was born in Talpa, New Mexico on November 7, 1926 to Carlos and Maria Romero.  She married her beloved husband, Felix Gomez on February 3, 1946 and were married for 67 glorious years.  They moved to Tooele, Utah in 1948 to seek employment with the Tooele Army Depot.  Together they had five children, Pauline, Carla, Rosalie, Viola, and Felix Jr.   Agatha was very active in the VFW Ladies Auxiliary and held various positions supporting many fund-raising events.  She was employed for many years at Nu Cleaners under two owners.  Agatha was a member of St. Marguerite’s Catholic Church and was very active in support of her church.  Agatha and Felix shared a love of dancing and brightened up the dance hall with their grace and beauty.  She also loved to go camping and spending time with family and friends.  Cooking was her passion.  She always had a pot of beans and a stack of tortillas when anyone stopped by.  Agatha enjoyed playing Mexican Train with family and always enjoyed her glass of wine.  She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.  Agatha is preceded in death by her loving husband, Felix Sr. and her daughters, Pauline and Viola, her father, Carlos Romero, her mother Maria Romero and her brothers, Alonzo Romero and Jose Benito Romero.  She is survived by her three children, Carla (Wayde) Hamilton, Rosalie (Garry) Poloskey and Felix Jr.; her sisters, Marcia Sanchez, Trinnie (Luis) Barela, and Olivia Martinez; sister-in-law and best friend, Julia Romero.  She has eight grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews that have shown her support and comfort through the years.  A special thanks to Joe Bittman for his loving friendship and to Amanda from Rocky Mountain Hospice for her loving support during this difficult time.  Services will be held at St. Marguerite’s Church, 15 S. Seventh Street, Tooele on Wednesday, June 28, 2023.   A viewing will be held at 10:00 a.m. and funeral mass following at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow at the Tooele City Cemetery.  Services entrusted to Didericksen Memorial.
